Another Pelzer book.... |

I have seen Dave Pelzer's Brother Richard has also written a book. Should be a good read if you have read the others...an amazing story and life Dave has lead, so it will be interesting to see his Brothers side of the story too.
A Brother's Journey: Surviving a Childhood of Abuse
Richard B. Pelzer
The story of Dave Pelzer is a legend of our times: the shattering tale of the child called 'It' who was forced to live in the basement. His mother was the perpetrator of the horror, but she had a willing accomplice. It was Dave's brother Richard - the author of this book. When Dave was twelve the police removed him from the household, but the cycle of abuse continued. Mrs Pelzer had a new target for her crazed, alcoholic wrath. The hunter became the hunted - at the age of nine. This is his story. Recounting the warped dynamics of a family riven by abuse, he reveals his guilt at being the abuser, his scarring at being abused, the complete lack of questioning within the family about what was happening - and even the twisted respect the boys had for their mother. Richard became the target of his mother's artillery of insanity, the victim of savage beatings leading to hospitalization, the boy denied clean clothes, the one who 'deserved' whole bottles of hot Tabasco sauce poured down his throat.

First Trojan to Attack Microsoft Anti-Spyware Product Discovered |

Anti-virus experts at Sophos have discovered the first piece of malware to attack Microsoft's new anti-spyware product, currently still in beta.
The Troj/BankAsh-A Trojan horse is designed to steal passwords and online banking passwords from unsuspecting Windows users. The Trojan horse also disables Microsoft AntiSpyware, currently available only as a beta download from Microsoft's website, attempting to suppress warning messages that Microsoft AntiSpyware may display and deleting all files within the program's folder.
"This appears to be the first attempt yet by any piece of malware to disable Microsoft AntiSpyware, but it may be the first of many such future attacks," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos. "As Microsoft's product creeps out of beta, and is properly released and is adopted more by the home user market, we can expect to see more and more attempts by Trojan horses, viruses and worms to try and undermine its effectiveness." source Computer World

DIVISION OR UNITY ------
by Max Lucado
Suspicion and distrust often lurk at God's table. Around the table the
siblings squabble, and the Father sighs.
The Father sighs because he has a dream. “I have other sheep that are
not in this flock, and I must bring them also. They will listen to my
voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd†(John 10:16).
God has only one flock. Somehow we missed that. Religious division is
not his idea. The flock has one shepherd. And though we may think there
are many, we are wrong. There is only one.
Never in the Bible are we told to create unity. We are simply told to
maintain the unity that exists. Paul exhorts us to preserve “the unity
which the Spirit gives†(Eph. 4:3, NEB). Our task is not to invent
unity, but to acknowledge it.
I have two sisters and a brother. We are siblings because we came from
the same family. We have the same father and mother. I'm sure there
have been times when they didn't want to call me their brother, but
they don't have that choice.
Nor do we. When I see someone calling God Father and Jesus Savior, I
meet a brother or sister.
What would happen (I know this is a crazy thought), but what would
happen if all the churches agreed, on a given day, to change their
names to simply “church What if any reference to any denomination
were removed and we were all just Christians? And then when people
chose which church to attend, they wouldn't do so by the sign outside Â…
they'd do so by the hearts of the people inside. And then when people
were asked what church they attended, their answer wouldn't be a label
but just a location.
And then we Christians wouldn't be known for what divides us; instead
we'd be known for what unites us-our common Father.
Crazy idea? Perhaps.
But I think God would like it. It was his to begin with.

Moments In Life |

There are moments in life when you miss someone
so much that you just want to pick them from
your dreams and hug them for real!
When the door of happiness closes, another opens;
but often times we look so long at the
closed door that we don't see the one,
which has been opened for us.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile,
because it takes only a smile to
make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go;
be what you want to be,
because you have only one life
and one chance to do all the things
you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human and
enough hope to make you happy
The happiest of people don't necessarily
have the best of everything;
they just make the most of
everything that comes along their way.
The brightest future will always
be based on a forgotten past;
you can't go forward in life until
you let go of your past failures and heartaches
When you were born, you were crying
and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end,
you're the one who is smiling and everyone
around you is crying
Don't count the years - count the memories!

FB may I ask you what you make of Smith's remarks regarding an Aussie Cricket Coach for SA? With South Africa's present coach indicating that he is going to re-apply when his present contract ends, it makes one wonder about the relationship between himself and the captain??

The pink dress |

Got this via e-mail today....
There was this little girl sitting by herself in the park.
Everyone passed by her and never stopped to see why she looked so sad.
Dressed in a worn pink dress, barefoot and dirty, the girl just sat
and watched the people go by.
She never tried to speak.
She never said a word.
Many people passed by her, but no one would stop.
The next day I decided to go back to the park in curiosity to see if
the little girl would still be there.
Yes, she was there, right in the very spot where she was yesterday,
and still with the same sad look in her eyes.
Today I was to make my own move and walk over to the little girl.
For as we all know, a park full of strange people is not a place for
young children to play alone.
As I got closer I could see the back of the little girl's dress.
It was grotesquely shaped.
I figured that was the reason people just passed by and made no effort
to speak to her.
Deformities are a low blow to our society and, heaven forbid if you
make a step toward assisting someone who is different.
As I got closer, the little girl lowered her eyes slightly to avoid my
intent stare.
As I approached her, I could see the shape of her back more clearly.
She was grotesquely shaped in a humped over form.
I smiled to let her know it was OK; I was there to help, to talk.
I sat down beside her and opened with a simple, "Hello."
The little girl acted shocked, and stammered a "hi"; after a long
stare into my eyes.
I smiled and she shyly smiled back
We talked until darkness fell and the park was completely empty.
I asked the girl why she was so sad.
The little girl looked at me with a sad face said, "Because, I'm
different."
I immediately said, "That you are!"; and smiled.
The little girl acted even sadder and said, "I know."
"Little girl," I said, "you remind me of an angel, sweet and
innocent."
She looked at me and smiled, then slowly she got to her feet and said,
"Really?"
"Yes, you're like a little Guardian Angel sent to watch over all
people walking by."
She nodded her head yes, and smiled.
With that she opened the back of her pink dress and allowed her wings
to spread, then she said "I am."
"I'm your Guardian Angel," :wings: with a twinkle in her eye.
I was speechless -- sure I was seeing things.
She said, "For once you thought of someone other than yourself. My job
here is done".
I got to my feet and said, "Wait, why did no one stop to help an
angel?"
She looked at me, smiled, and said, "You're the only one that could
see
me," and then she was gone.
And with that, my life was changed dramatically.
So, when you think you're all you have, remember, your angel is always
watching over you. :lovef:
