Beeld-deurloop:
Hulle lê kwalik 'n halfuur in jou maag of hulle soek geselskap.
Pap hou 'n man tot twaalfuur toe.
Oats, skryf Samuel Johnson in sy woordeboek van die Engelse taal, is a grain which in England is generally given to horses, but in Scotland supports the people.
Nes mieliepap.

Posted by: Pronkertjie - 03-02-2005, 09:27 AM - Forum: Christian Faith Praise - No Replies

In hierdie wêreld wil almal net hê.

Vrede

Stephan Joubert

Another SAffer rules the roost for England
Posted by: TheDuck - 02-02-2005, 08:03 PM - Forum: SportsTalk - Replies (1)

'Dream come true' for Pietersen

Batsman Kevin Pietersen said he was "dumbstruck" after scoring his first international century for England.

His unbeaten 108 was all the sweeter as it came in his native South Africa.

Pietersen kissed the badge on his helmet after reaching three figures and said: "It was all spontaneous. I'm happy as anything.

"To score a hundred for England in my sixth game is a dream come true. The boys are brilliant, the coaches are fantastic, everybody has been awesome."

The 24-year-old from Pietermaritzburg left South Africa to join Nottinghamshire in 2001 and was a prolific scorer in four seasons spent qualifying to play for England.

He made his one-day debut in Zimbabwe last year and his hundred in Bloemfontein came in only his sixth appearance.

Pietersen insisted he was not bothered by the cool reception he has been given by the South African crowds.

"When I walk in there and they boo me, I'm well up for the challenge.

"I just want to prove everybody wrong and prove the decision I made to come over [to England] four or five years ago was the best decision I've ever made in my life.

  The Library Bus
Posted by: TheDuck - 02-02-2005, 02:28 PM - Forum: The Book Club - Replies (9)

This Duck so loves the services of this country

Every Wednesday at 4.20pm the Library Bus arrives.

One person drives the bus and then does the administration of those taking books out on the laptops in the bus. [bus is a long coach]

If you take books out at the main library in the town, you can return them to the bus.

Do any of you still have this service in the area you live?

How do I upload an Avatar?

Having problems with this - when I click on Edit Avatar I get a screen that states 'no avatar selected' and a line that states 'do not use an avatar' which has been ticked, and I cannot un-tick it. Then there are two options - save changes or reset field - reset field does nothing and save changes gets me back to step 1.

Help!

  Signing for babies
Posted by: dudette - 02-02-2005, 11:42 AM - Forum: Parenting and Children - Replies (11)

A friend of mine is teaching her hearing child to sign, as she read a book somewhere where the authors found with their own child that the child could sign and understand signing much earlier than a speaking child. Her child is 13 months old, and she finds that since about 10 months, her child was able to communicate that she wanted a drink or to sleep or so on, much earlier than she could speak. My daughter is now 21 months old, and only in the past few months has she been able to tell me she wants juice, or something to eat, so surely this is a good thing?

Has anyone else done this with their children, and what was your experience?
