  Psalm 23
Posted by: penelope - 07-02-2005, 04:59 PM - Forum: Poetry and Inspirations - Replies (1)

Psalm 23

This is an eye opener; some probably never thought nor looked at

this Psalm in this way, even though they say it over and over

again.

The Lord is my Shepherd

That's Relationship!

I shall not want

That's Supply!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures

That's Rest!

He leadeth me beside the still waters

That's Refreshment!

He restoreth my soul

That's Healing!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness

That's Guidance!

For His name sake

That's Purpose!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

That's Testing!

I will fear no evil

That's Protection!

For Thou art with me

That's Faithfulness!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me

That's Discipline!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies

That's Hope!

Thou annointest my head with oil

That's Consecration!

My cup runneth over

That's Abundance!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life

That's Blessing!

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

That's Security!

Forever

That's Eternity!

I thought this was pretty special!!! What is most

valuable, is not WHAT we have in our lives, but WHO we have in

our lives!

Did anyone else watch that game? How those terrible decisions affected the outcome of the game is unbelievable, especially when you are allowed to use TV replays.

  Beautiful Lyrics

Some songs have such beautiful lyrics that they bring a lump to the throat. Do you have some favourite lyrics? I've just heard this on the radio:

Sometimes When We Touch - Dan Hill

You ask me if I love you
And I choke on my reply
I'd rather hurt you honestly
Than mislead you with a lie
And who am I to judge you
On what you say or do?
I'm only just beginning to see the real you

And sometimes when we touch
The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you til I die
Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

Romance and all its strategy
Leaves me battling with my pride
But through the insecurity
Some tenderness survives
I'm just another writer
Still trapped within my truth
A hesitant prize fighter
Still trapped within my youth

And sometimes when we touch
The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you til I die
Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

At times I'd like to break you
And drive you to your knees
At times I'd like to break through
And hold you endlessly

At times I understand you
And I know how hard you've tried
I've watched while love commands you
And I've watched love pass you by

At times I think we're drifters
Still searching for a friend
A brother or a sister
But then the passion flares again

And sometimes when we touch
The honesty's too much

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond ours.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others..

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added: "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are"

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends.

Life is too short and friends are too few. :lovef:

  The Potter
Posted by: Pronkertjie - 06-02-2005, 05:42 PM - Forum: Christian Faith Praise - Replies (4)

:hartlik:Today's church service was very different....

John Hunter is an American Potter that lives in Namibia for quite a number of years.

He had a small potters wheel and some clay and water in the front.

First he was trying to make a round ball with this clay, banging it real hard as he was sharing how God forms our character through putting pressure on our lives. The promise that we will overcome and not just survive.

He then put the clay on the edge of the wheel and said that so many of us likes to live on the edge.... in independance, taking risks.... but what happens.... of course the wheel became all wobbly as he spin the wheel faster and faster. The next moment the clay flew of the edge and landed on the floor. In the process of picking it up from the floor, he quickly pushed two eyes in the clay and said "yip... you fall flat on your face". Something we all could identify with.

He then started to make a jug. The clay was responding under the pressure as it was taking shape, and so must we respond to the pressure He is putting on our lives - who said being a Christian is an easy life.

He was explaining how he - after many years of practice - can tell if it is a man or a woman who made a piece of pottery, or he can recognise the artist by looking at the a piece. God also puts His mark on us if He is in control of our lives.

Something that really spoke to me was the fact that a good Potters artwork needs to look the same at the inside as the outside. He shared that when he was still learning, he had to make cylinder after cylinder and every afternoon his tutor came with a rope and cut the the piece in half to see if the inside is the same as the outside. God will continue to put pressure on us, so that we can grow and look the same at the inside as the outside.

He gave His life as a ransom for many.... He takes you who you are.... pour Himself into you and He makes you a vessel of honor.

May we go into this week to be a vessel of honor.... that pleases Him.

Ok.... this is a little bit off the beaten track..... but I am hoping some of your fundies can help.

We recently moved house, and as you can imagine, things were chaos for the first few weeks....so tonight I decided on a bit of time out and wanted to watch a DVD....

I had everything connected up, just like I had it in my previous house, but for some really bizarre reason, I can only get a black and white picture.... what am I doing wrong???

Any hints and tips will help..... I Googled this question, but can't really find anything that makes any sense....

I am going to be visiting Milan for a weekend soon and was wondering if anyone else has been there, and if so, what they can recommend as 'unmissable'. Plus, any suggestions of good places to eat will be much appreciated.

The places already on the itinerary for Saturday are:

Santa Maria delle Grazie
Cenacolo
Pieta Rondanini
Duomo
Sant'ambrogio
Milano Romana

I am looking for things to do on the Friday, as I have slightly more than a halfday to kill in the city.

SA soccer scene: More hooked in soccer dope probe
Posted by: TheDuck - 04-02-2005, 08:59 AM - Forum: The Football Season - Replies (1)

South African soccer was plunged into a doping crisis on Thursday after it was revealed that two more Premier Soccer League players have tested positive for a banned substance.

Only this week, Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs and Golden Arrows striker Harry Milanzi both received six-month suspended sentences from the South African Football Association for differing doping offences.

With four positive tests now having taken place in an extremely short space of time, the chairperson of Safa's anti-doping committee, Raymond Hack, admitted yesterday that the matter "raises a note of concern".

Well, at least we are not lagging behind the world when it comes to certain aspects Sad

Ons moet vir my man 'n bakkie koop en ons kon net nie een kry in Durban binne ons "budget" nie.
