What was your favourite book as a child ?
Posted by: nikkinaz - 25-04-2004, 12:55 PM - Forum: The Book Club - Replies (5)

Which book (s) did you love when you were little ?

And are there any books which to this day you still appreciate as an adult ?

.........................................................................................................
I would say that I was an Enid Blyton fan, as well as Roald Dahl. (Almost forgot Judy Blume for those pre teen years !)

And the book I appreciate most as an adult is Charlottes Web - it is such a beautiful story with all the elements of life in it.

  High Cholesterol...
Posted by: Icecub - 24-04-2004, 08:16 PM - Forum: Your Health, Fitness and Wellbeing - Replies (38)

Boy, i am not impressed!! I went to doctor last week, for a suspected ulcer or gastritis, he sent me for blood tests, and now wants to see me on Tuesday - as my tests came back - high cholesterol!! I am shocked as i hardly eat anything relating to fat, i grill and bake all my meat, chicken, use olive oil for everything, i do not have margarine or butter on my bread!! I phoned my Mom today to see if she or my Dad suffered from cholesterol, no..but my Dad's family has cholesterol problems. At the moment i do not know what my count is, but i presume maybe 6??

I guess it could be the stressful life i live!! :bigcry:

  May's Book
Posted by: nikkinaz - 22-04-2004, 03:49 PM - Forum: The Book Club - Replies (20)

I know a few people are still waiting to get the Da Vinci code, and perhaps I am plowing on ahead too fast...but here was hoping we would all get a book +/- the same time and read it within the same month. Da Vinci was for April....

Any suggestions for May ? Or can I go ahead and look for a few titles...??? Please get back to me.

  Toddler Taming
Posted by: Venus - 21-04-2004, 09:17 PM - Forum: Parenting and Children - Replies (11)

Help! Terrible Twos have struck my home this week! :dazed: I've bought the book, "Toddler Taming" by Dr Christopher Green & have become a loyal devotee but I still feel like I'm drowning! :wall:

Here's a list of the Toddler Tortures being inflicted upon me:

1. Hunger strike
2. Daily tantrums that last at least half an hour a time
3. Excess clinginess

In all fairness to my son, we've had a tough year with a lot of changes in our lives. He also has a new set of molars coming out so I've been dosing him up with Calpol.

At 10pm tonight on BBC Radio 2 (according to my dad)...there is a programme on SA music.

It's the 2nd part - my dad taped some of it last week and it was encredibly interesting and really 'lekker' to hear.

If it's not on.... blame my dad not me! Big Grin
