  Portugal
Posted by: Gregg - 04-05-2004, 01:26 PM - Forum: Travel and Immigration - Replies (7)

Anyone know whether as a SA passport holder whether I need a visa to go to Portugal. (I presume I do...since we need one for most countries)

I've done a quick search on the net for the Portuguese consulate but can't find a decent link. Anyone got one?

Also if we need a visa, do we have to visit the consulate in person or can we use an agency?

Any assistance will be appreciated!!

  Another IE 6 Problem

Phleez can someone help me. I noticed the past few days I am getting messages about Illegal operations with Explorer. When I click on the more option this is what I get:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module MSVCRT.DLL at 0167:780154a7.

I have reinstalled IE 6, got rid of some progs that I think may be causing a conflict, downloaded something or the other from MS updates, and am now downloading Vs6sp6. I did a google search on the error message and it suggested to do this, but somehow i doubt it is going to do the trick.

  Your children's quirks?
Posted by: dudette - 30-04-2004, 07:54 PM - Forum: Parenting and Children - Replies (16)

What little mannerism did/does your child have that is unique to him/her?
For example, my son, from the age of about 9 months, would suck his cheeks in and then chew them at the same time. He also used to push his cheek really close to mine and then bite down on the inside of his cheek.
My baby daughter, when tired, likes to put her hand down the front of your shirt (not only mine!)
This was unique to each of them and I don't know of any other child who did this.
Did your children have similar habits?

  Gordon Ramsay - kitchen nightmares
Posted by: Cheffie - 30-04-2004, 01:33 AM - Forum: Your Food and Entertainment - Replies (36)

As some of you might know, the esteemed Chef Gordon Ramsay is appearing on local TV (Ch4) on Tuesday evenings.

I'd be interested to hear your viewpoints on the actual programme (granted its after the 21h00 benchmark and therefore prone to 'alternative viewing').

I've been chatting with some food critics, Chefs etc about the programme - and all hype excluded - they felt there was too much swearing.
Is this the general consensus from the masses or are we being inundated with 'reality' type TV programmes that are slowly wearing down our senses?

IMHO (and I'll reserve judgement till after the DVD box set is in my hands - deleted scenes a must Big Grin ) I think its a true reflection on what is going on behind the doors of some kitchens.

Hilarious to a point, downright disgusting in other areas I agree - at the end of the day it's a showcase of restaurants that have applied to have their businesses given a once over by the Chef.

To date I have managed to see one programme - and thoroughly enjoyed the banter, advice, the 'actual' life etc that is being portrayed. I do however speak from someone in the industry and fully understand a lot of the points, issues and concerns raised - though I'm not sure if everyone else might see it in the same light.

I do wonder if this series will have the same effect as 'Kitchen Confidential - Anthony Bourdain', a brilliant book IMO, on the 'viewing public.

Your thoughts...

Personally.. I cannot wait for the boxed set of DVD's... Wink

  pc... slow

What is the reason why it sometimes takes such a long time to "open up" new threads/web sites???
Is it perhaps the browser or just that the Net is very busy? I often do defragmenting/scan checks etc.

Also earlier on tonight my cursor froze again (with the hand sign) which wouldn't move so I had to reboot. Is this maybe because I was becoming impatient & clicked on something else before the other had loaded?

Just curious.
