Bad news Squeaks, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. We were in the same boat as Pam. Twins, both with colic. The one would wake up, be fed, winded and got to sleep, by this time the other one was awake, by the time she went to sleep, we had 20 minutes before the first one would wake up again.
I think it lasted until they were 9 months old. We lived on take aways for months and me and the wife even patted each other on the back while we were sleeping. ( the winding thing) The good news is they do outgrow it, the nightmares, teething, injections everything pass with time, and before you realise it she will bring you breakfast in bed. Enjoy it, it might not be fun all the time, but it's worth it.
