I have a few favourites, difficult to decide on which one...I love "To kill a mocking bird"
I also loved "Gone with the Wind"...yep all those hours I sat watching it more than once... Like Curio, I will have to think about this one.................

Quote:Originally posted by Joan I agree with you on both books & movies, Joan! As discussed in another thread, I also loved both the book & movie of "Angela's Ashes". I also love Catherine Cookson & have enjoyed all the mini series that have been made of her books. I was very surprised how much I loved Baz Luhrmann's version of Romeo & Juliet. It was fantastic that he kept Shakespeare's original words but made it relevant to a modern setting.

I must admit I still think the Great Gatsby was the best conversion from book to screen that I have yet seen.
Mostly I find reading a book and then seeing a movie adaptation disappointing as a movie by its very nature cannot capture all that is contained in a book. The one surprise that I found was Harry Potter, where you pretty much have to read the books in order to understand the movie - this is especially true for the first movie.

Two modern movies that were originally books that springs to my mind both the fiction and the fliks are good.
