New Rights of Permanent Residence for European Economic Area (EEA)* Citizens and Their Families
On 30th April 2006, new regulations will be introduced which will change the way persons from the EEA and their family members get permanent residence in the UK (The Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006). The new regulations are as a result of a Directive from the European Union in 2004.
From the 30th April 2006, a citizen from the EEA and his family members will acquire permanent residence in the UK when they have lived here for 5 years (other conditions apply). There are two main differences to the old regulations.
Under the old regulations an EEA citizen and his family members could get permanent residence (Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)) after only 4 years. However, the good news is that the person acquires permanent residence without having to make an application to the Home Office. Once the person has been here for 5 years or more, and the other conditions are met, then they become automatically entitled to permanent residence. It is no longer granted by the Home Office. However the person will still have to prove his entitlement if he wants official confirmation that he is a permanent resident
The change in the Regulations means that an EEA citizen and his family members can apply for British citizenship without first having to apply for indefinite leave to remain. Of course he must be able to prove his entitlement

A variation on my recipe... and it works incredibly well on the palate. The sweetness is offset by the bitter chocolate.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Chocolate studded Cape Malva pudding
Y=4 portions
Sponge:
80ml Whole Milk
100g Double Zero Flour
160g Granulated white sugar
1 pinch Salt
8g Bicarb of Soda
2 Whole Eggs
30g Smooth Apricot Jam
15g Melted Butter
15ml Red Wine vinegar
120g grade 7 chocolate (for studding)
Method:
Sieve all dry ingredients. Make a well and add the eggs. Add the melted butter, jam and vinegar. Add the milk. Reserve to one side. Line a greased and floured baking dish (Deep). Bake @ 200c for 30 minutes. Remove briefly from the oven and stud the sponge with the chocolate pieces. Return to the oven for a further 10 minutes.
Syrup:
200g Granulated White Sugar
140g Butter
80ml Water
80ml Milk
320ml Double Cream
Method:
Bring to the boil in a separate pot. Reserve to one side. Pour gently over the hot sponge, and leave to soak for approx 20 min. Chill until set. Divide into four portions.
Assembly:
Fresh Blackberries
Picked mint sprigs
4x caramel baskets
When reheating, caramelise the Malva in oven (220c) for 6-8 minutes. Serve warm with a small pool of coffee custard or rich vanilla pod ice cream (pictured). Garnish with fresh berries, mint and sugar basket (optional).
Coffee custard:
2 Egg yolks
25g Castor sugar
125ml double cream
125ml whole milk
50ml espresso
Method:
Whisk the egg yolks and sugar over Bain Marie. Heat the milk and incorporate into the egg. Return the mixture to a saucepan and cook over a low heat until thick. Allow cooling. Reserve to one side.

frozen food (or the Jamie Oliver effect) |

How many chefs out there, and I use the term lightly (not you cheffie) make use of the frozen food companys and the ready meals?
Since I have been working for one such company (not one of the biggies) I findit hard to go out and enjoy a meal as I know the restaurants have bought the meals from us.
How difficult can it be to put rice in a pot, or chop a few veg or heaven forbid cook a steak? I find it really disturbing. And the fact these people have the audactiy to complain over the slightest thing. There are times where I just want to say learn how to cook, but I don't.
I have found one place near me that actually cooks from fresh and I don't mind paying the prices (OK so the bloke is French and the only thing ready made is the ice).
I have a prob paying £9 upwards for a 'microwave from frozen to table' lasagne or some such and that you have to wait upto 30 minutes for it.
I understand that cooking from scratch for over 60 covers (a lot down my neck of the woods) isn't easy but trying wouldn't hurt.
These people give proper chefs a bad name, and I think I might end up talking myself out of a job, I'd rather have good, well prepared, cooked food than microwaved. Afterall if ready meals aren't good enough for me at home why should they be when I go out?

A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl. Although his English was far from perfect, they got along very well until one day he rushed into a lawyer's office and asked him if he could arrange a divorce for him.
The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions:
Have you any grounds? - Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.
No, I mean what is the foundation of this case? - It made of concrete.
I don't think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge? -
No, we have carport, and not need one.
I mean. What are your relations like? - All my relations still in Poland.
Is there any infidelity in your marriage? - We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.
Does your wife beat you up? - No, I always up before her.
Is your wife a nagger? - No, she white.
Why do you want this divorce? - She going to kill me.
What makes you think that? - I got proof.
What kind of proof? - She going to poison me. She buy a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf in bathroom. I can read, and it say: "Polish Remover"

Should children witness child birth?
This is one of the funniest! Pass it along!
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call.
The house was very, very dark, so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-year-old girl, to hold a flashlight high over her Mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.
Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while Connor was born. The paramedic lifted Connor by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry.
The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in first place......... smack him again"
