  Article on why you should try Linux!!

For anyone new to Linux or unsure about starting to use Linux, there is an interesting article on why you should try Linux in this week's Micro Mart magazine (Issue 810 - cost only £1.80p).

There is a six page special outlining all the pros and cons about using Linux. It lists several of the various "distros" available and recommending the ones they have tested as being the best for "newbies" to try.

If you don't want to interfere with your current OS then buy one of the many distros on a bootable CD-Rom which can run independently of your OS and it leaves all files and configurations intact. To do this you must be able to boot from CD-Rom and most of todays PC's should be able to do this.

The article goes on to describe and explain the wide range of software that is available and most of it FREE.

The article covers most areas of computing from email through to networking. It covers in a reasonable amout of detail all the wealth of software available to most if not all of the Window$ versions. For example there are freebie alternatives available for MS Office, Photoshop, Corel Draw, AutoCAD and Studio 9 etc.etc.

For anyone interested then DistroWatch can provide you with any number of options to consider. They appear to be a leading Linux distributor.

I hope that this gets you interested in at least looking at the "better" options to using your PC. No more "Blue Screen of Death".

Heard around 14250...special event stations using prefix SY2004*** for the Olympics SY2004GYG was a useful 5/9 on the vertical but unable to break the pile up.....plenty of PY's up working him too.

It is shocking how unhealthy some people are living, and amazing how Dr Gillian turns the people's lives around.
I have promptly ordered her book on Amazon and can't wait for it to arrive...

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70th birthday. Maya really is a marvel who has led quite an interesting and exciting life.

Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was "exciting."

Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.
The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words.
"I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life goes go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

Just in on one of the travel newswires

TurkeyÂ’s airports have been placed on the second highest level of alert following fears of a September 11-style terrorist attack, it is claimed.

The report comes from a Turkish newspaper, Milliyet, which did not say what the potential target could be.

It said officials held an emergency meeting last week and raised security to 'yellow', the second highest level of alert.

Sky News said the newspaper had been told by an "important source" that al Qaeda was planning either to blow up a plane or to hijack one and crash it. The TV news station added that the Turkish government had made no comment about the revelation.

Nearly 70 alleged members of a Turkish al Qaeda cell have been arrested in Turkey following the wave of bomb attacks in Istanbul last year. The British consulate, a London-based bank, and two Turkish synagogues were attacked, with the loss of 60 lives.
