Atkins Diet |

I read a letter in our local paper where someone was justifying /defending the atkins diet, saying they had lost 20kg's in two months and now were in "maintenance" mode. i did not see the first letter but i assume it did not have anything good to say about it, this person said to read the book as it tells you how to do it without danger. I have had two families of friends - in different countries - thus independant of each other - also lose spectacular weight on this diet just by cutting out refined starch.
i personaly am scared of it, but i would like to hear other perspectives to this diet

I know you ppl might think this a morbid subject, but have been wanting to ask this in a long while....
Should my hubby pass away here on Mud isle, what steps do i need to take first and how do i go about it??
Have asked hubby to tell me these things, he has given me his version....
but what would u do??
would u go back to SA?
we have a pension and life insurance separate from the Company so hubby can move on to other jobs taking the insurance with him, they would pay me four times his annual salary plus other things...
i would not be able to afford to stay here without working, so what would be your option??
also who do u notify first of his death?
how do u make sure u got bucks to live on without borrowing ?
we have a joint account, would that be frozen? (hope not)
all these things really bother me?????

I won't name the airline, to protect the innocent and that .....
During the Friday evening "rush hour" last week at a certain UK airport, one of my colleague's departure was delayed due to a mechanical problem. Since they needed the gate for another flight, the aircraft was backed away from the gate while the engineers worked on it. Passengers were then told the new gate number, which was some distance away. Everyone moved to the new gate, only to find that a third gate had been designated.
After some further shuffling, all got on board, and settled in. The
flight attendant made the standard announcement, "We apologise for the inconvenience of this last-minute gate change. This is flight XXXXX to Heathrow. If your destination is not Heathrow, then you should make yourself known to the cabin crew straight away."
At that point a very confused-looking and red-faced pilot emerged from the cockpit, carrying his bags. "Sorry," he said, "wrong plane."

Travelling with children |

For all of you with kids, whatever the age, what do you do to keep your kids entertained on long journeys?
Tomorrow I'll be travellign 3 hours to get to the braai, and wondered if you had some tips.
I've got a book on travel games and here are a few that I liked the most... (approximate age of children in brackets)
Spotting games;
Spot the dot (3+)- Ask your child to hide his eyes while you stick a small dot somewhere nearby, such as on the car dashboard. Then tell him to open his eyes and see if he can spot the dot.
Road Signs(4+) - See how many road signs you can spot, and ask your children if they can identify what they mean. To make itmore fun, they could think of alternative meanings for the signs.
Lucky Numbers (5+) Each child chooses a number from zero to nine as a lucky number, and then has to look out for it on the number plates of parked cars, winning a point for each one.
Musical Games
Songs like;
ABC Alphabet song
One two buckle my shoe,
Ten green bottles,
Incy Wincy Spider
One man went to mow
If you're happy and you know it
Fast and slow songs - Choose a song that everyone in your family knows well, but don't let on what it is. Then sing it at top speed to see if your children can identify it. Alternatively sing as low, high or slow as you can.
Mind the gap - Pick a song that your children know the words to and sing it, leaving a pause at the end of each line so that they can fill in teh missing word. Or you could adapt this as a 'spot what's wrong in the song' game, singing, for exammple, 'Humpty Dumpty sat on a chair' or Jack and Jill went up the mountain'.
The book is called Travel Games, by Jane Kemp and Clare Walters.

I have been to my doctor last week because I have a constant pain in one of my breasts for the last 3 months and it is not going away. She didn't seem to be too worried but has send me for a scan on a 'fast track' anyway...next tuesday. Funny how things play in the back of your mind. I am only 29 .....so at least my age is in my favour. I have one lady at work that is currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer....I hope my scan is OK. Anyone out there that had a similar experience?
